Commodore Perry in the Land of the Shogun
How did Commodore Perry Change Japan? Do you think Japan would have stayed isolated forever?
Commodore Perry changed Japan by: Going to Japan with a treaty and to open to trade.
Showing them their steamships,Showing them their generosity, and,Telling them to let visitors (American ships) stay for some time,Showing them their ways of living,
I don't think Japan would be isolated forever because it shut them down from the world, they wouldn't know other new things (steamships, trains, electricity, etc.)Friday, September 11, 2015
Poetry Memorization
Mom here: Part of our school work this year will be on improving Levi's memory and some basic public speaking. We are tying that into our poetry readings from the book Knock at a Star
The first poem Levi memorized was "Learning" by Judith Viorst and we videotaped his presentation. He seems very calm, because the first two tries he broke out into hysterics half way though and he is working hard to get all the way through this very silly poem.
If you want to see the actual poem, it is here: Learning
And then after we did that, he found another one line poem (unnamed) that he wanted to do as well.
He is such a goof ball. From Levi- ...Seriously Mom? Anyway, that is a lie, it had a name, HANDSAWWWWWW, I told you. :P ._.

Twenty One Balloons
The author believes balloon travel is best. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
I disagree, there are many problems that could happen, A) The wind could stop and you would fall. B) You would run out of fire. C) You would never make it there because the wind is to calm. Or D) The wind would blow you in the wrong direction. I personally think rail travel is best. Why? Well air travel always feels like your going to die, water travel has a chance of sinking, and subway travel is just plain scary, your inside a dark tunnel, and it feels like the roof will collapse any minute, and on rail travel, your on the ground, yes, it's loud, but it's not that bad when you get used to it, it's fast, so you won't be on it for years, and it rocks a bit, but to me it feels relaxing.
